Overview

Ministry & Leadership courses are designed to train students in key areas of spiritual development, leadership and ministry skills that will help them succeed in ministry and marketplace careers.

Year 1

Year 1

Semester 1

  1. Discipleship: Understanding the plan and purpose of discipleship in the life of a believer while clarifying “What is Discipleship?” and “How to Make Disciples.”
  2. Ministry Purpose: Examines major elements of discovering and pursuing one’s purpose and personal calling. One will work to discern God’s will, discover unique gifts, appreciate personality traits, and embrace their role in advancing the kingdom of God.
  3. Spiritual Disciplines: A basic overview of how to cultivate an intimate relationship with God through bible reading, prayer, fasting, giving and worship.

Semester 2

  1. Personal Leadership: Focuses on the key attributes of a leader and how to apply these to one’s life.
  2. Christian Worldview and Culture I: An examination of the history, nature, and function of belief structures and their effect on culture, specifically the distinctly Christian worldview based on foundational biblical themes such as creation, humanity in God’s image, sin and the fall of man, evil, redemption, and restoration.

Semester 1

  1. Ministry Practices I: Understanding the purpose and principles of evangelism and how to communicate the gospel effectively while inviting a response.
  2. Ministry Practices II: Understanding the priorities of discipleship and how to minister to the heart, rather than focusing on external behavior.

Semester 2

  1. Team Leadership: Examines major elements of how to lead others and teamwork. One will gain an understanding of ministry leadership practices, developing leaders and successfully leading teams in a ministry setting.
  2. Christian Worldview & Culture II: A more in depth look of the history, nature, and function of belief structures and their effect on culture 

Year 3

Year 3

Semester 1

  1. Pastoral Leadership: How to disciple people through the process of lasting sanctification and change while maintaining a pastoral posture and humble heart. 
  2. Biblical Preaching /Communication: How to lead a meeting, how to communicate one-on-one. Stage preaching, communicating a message. 

Semester 2

  1. Apologetics: Provides an understanding of various non-Christian belief systems and religions, and equips one with principles and practical advice to engage those who adhere to them.
  2. Professional Leadership: Examines the components of a biblical worldview as a necessary component of Christian professionalism. One will also gain skills in emotional intelligence, resume building, mock interviews and professional communication. This class prepares students for their next steps.
